"Bo"

Bo was our first Great Dane, although bought as a pet we were talked into showing him by Michelle Hickey (Riesenhaft Great Danes), we keep reminding Michelle that she has a lot to answer for. Bo had the most loveable nature and was a great ambassador for our breed; he was an "honest dog" and was made up to an Australian Champion in October, 1988. Bo died in April, 1995 shortly after arriving in New Zealand.

"Pepper"

It seemed silly going all the way to a show and only having one dog to show so with the help of Phil and Michelle Hickey, we acquired our first bitch. Pepper's show career was to be hampered by an accident as a small puppy, although we didn't know it at the time. Pepper fell off a raised garden while playing with her big mate Bo - the result of the fall was that she carried a fused vertebra in her neck. This prematurely ended her show career but not before she won several in group and in show awards. Pepper's greatest contribution to Faondein was as the dam of Aust Ch Faondein Anniversaire. Pepper was to suffer a fatal heart attack just before her 6th birthday.

"Holly"

Our move from Sydney, New South Wales to Adelaide, South Australia afforded us the opportunity to expand the number of Great Danes we could own. Just before leaving Sydney we acquired from Phil and Michelle Hickey a 4 month old puppy. Holly was a 1st cousin to Pepper and complemented our foundation stock. Holly was to teach us what a top winning show dog is. She took her first challenge from the Minor Puppy class at 8 months of age and titled before her 2nd birthday with a Best of Breed at the 1989 Adelaide Royal. Holly was mated twice and her progeny remain at home. Holly died just before her 9th birthday.
