A Potted History - About Faondein
The Barnes family are long standing breeders of fawn and brindle Great Danes now located in Brisbane Australia.
The Faondein Kennel (pronounced FawnDane) entered the Sydney (Australia) show scene in 1986 with a pet male, Issen Bold Knight "Bo" and soon acquired two foundation bitches Danesden Petronel "Pepper" and Aust CH Riesenhaft Moonlighting "Holly".
Later Faondein Kennels stamped it's mark in South Australia by taking Best of Breed on 3 occasions at the Adelaide Royal, firstly with Aust Ch Riesenhaft Moonlighting in1989, and then with their home bred bitch Aust Ch Faondein Anniversaire "Whoopi" in 1992 and 1993.
Other success in South Australia came through Kelly when he successfully handled Aust Ch Faondein Anniversaire to the South Australian PAL Junior Handlers title in 1991.
A move to New Zealand in 1995 led to active and successful competition in The Great Dane Club (TGDC) and Central North and South Island Great Dane Club (CN&SIGDC) point score competitions.
The policy at Faondein is to name litters alphabetically to allow ease of identification, apart from the "H" litter where Faondein Gunning for the Top and NZ CH Faondein Done for Di broke the mould.
